Why EuroDance music is not popular anymore!?

Radio is a phenomenon and must be treated with respect. Radio is like a virus, you catch it, u can’t treat it or find a cure.
It’s feeling you can’t describe. It’s interesting how with a mic u can talk to all the people and listen to what you playing.
But i found a man infected with this virus, we talked about music, and here is the result:

EurodanceBlog: Hello! How did you start to work as a DJ at RadiOK?
John Cristea : Well , not for a long time. I’ve been speaking at this radio’s mic for only 1 year. I was born with them 

EurodanceBlog: What kind of music does Radio K romote?
John Cristea : We play only hit music from 80’s, 90’s & today’s , adult contemporary. I can say it’s the same genre Europa FM plays.

EurodanceBlog: What is your opinion about eurodance music?
John Cristea : If you want a true answer... Well I really like it, has easy to remember choruses, it is nice and it’s a music that everyone listens to.

EurodanceBlog: This genre is not anymore on top?? Tell me your personal opinion...
John Cristea: No, nowadays styles of music change overnight. Today one style is popular, and tomorrow another is... You must keep connected to all the current styles to remain on top.... if you don’t, you will be forgotten.

EurodanceBlog: On radio is played the music from top 40 ?
John Cristea: It’s not like that a song can be on top 100. If the song has no impact, we don’t play it. It’s about that.... Music is like fashion, every year it changes and brings something new ... and music is like that... if we are not interested in it, we don’t play it.

EurodanceBlog: Why do European radios promote English & American music, while American and British radios only play their artists songs ?
John Cristea: It’s a matter of egoism. They prefer their music. European music is a intruder to them, which has little chances to be heard there.

EurodanceBlog: But how comes many female vocalists such as Melanie Thornton, Helena Paparizou, Anita Doth, Petra Marklund, Alexia to name a few, girls with a potential, are still unknown however...
John Cristea: Music industry is like a market. Today you are on top, and tomorrow you are unknown. The managers are responsible for this.
Having a voice and being able to compete with other artists is not enough, if u are in top it’s ok ... if not ... you’re not promoted

EurodanceBlog: But isn’t it radio’s fault if a song is not on top, even if artists launched new material!?
John Cristea: Yes you’re right but think about it : if the song has not that special feeling what shall we do ? We might lose our listeners... we promote what is promotable, and we also play the music our listeners chose.
I will repeat myself if the song doesn’t have that feeling we won’t play it, but our listeners also have their word to say in the choice of music we are playin here.

Regi will release his newest mix compilation on December 6th. He recently finished its recording, therefore we can tell you what you may expect on this awesome compilation
Also It's the time of the year, the Belgian music scene focuses on the Eurosong participation. At the beginning of 2008, the Belgian people begin to vote which song they'll send to the Eurosong contest.

Regi already did let know, he doesn't want Milk Inc. to perform at this contest, but he wouldn't mind producing a song for this contest. And that's what he did. On Februari 10th, Regi's song (My Music) will be performed by 3 young girls: Sabrina, Grisha and Valerie. They call themself Ellis-T. 'My Music' is a Jump-style song, it might become a hit in Belgium, but if it will go to the Eurosong contest, we'll see on Februari 10th

Sylver In the next episode of the reality soap "Regi's World" Wout and Silvy will be recording a new song for the brand new album in the Whisper Studio in Heusden Zolder (BE). A few weeks ago the viewers witnessed the birth of another new song "I Hate You" which will also appear on the new album. In contrary to what most people think this is not based upon the recent divorce issues of Silvy, but upon a recent broken relationship of Wout. The show is on air from next wednesday at 20h30. It is being repeated on saturday at 16h30 and 19h30. The final repeat is on sunday at 18u30.

Kate Ryan Fomer Belgian Eurovision representative Kate Ryan has received an award for Best Selling Benelux Artist at the World Music Awards 2008 in Monaco on Sunday evening. Kate Ryan follows in the footsteps of Helmut Lotti and Lara Fabian, who won the award in the past. Several world stars performed in the award show.
The annual World Music Awards are based on the official sales figures as registered by the international music federation IFPI. Kate mainly thanks her award to the success of the single Ella Elle L'a that became a hit in Europe, South America and Canada, and the album Free that was released in more than 40 countries.
In Monaco, Kate Ryan shared the stage with Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Akon, Kid Rock, Estelle, The Script, Solange, Laurent Wolf, Anastacia, Madcon and Philip Kirkorov. The show hosted by Jesse Metcalfe will be broadcast in more than hundred countries in the upcoming weeks.
On 12th December Kate Ryan is in the running for another award. Kate is nominated with Ella Elle L'a in the category Best Non-Spanish International Song at the Premios 40 Principales award show in Spain. For them the reason for their rehabilitation was a mystery, but it sounded very logical to others around them. His performance at one of the biggest festivals in Holland (Mysteryland) was one of the many highlights in his, still young career as a musician. Arjuna Schiks has competed in the finals of De Grote Prijs Van Nederland (one of the leading talent contests in Holland) and is also producing an collaborating with Holland’s finest producer and DJ 100%Isis and Club Roxy veteran DJ Dimitri. Willie Wartaal is best known as a member of De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig, who scored the number one hit single and national media hype of 2005 “Watskeburt” and played all over country and abroad. (Lowlands, Innercity Sensations etc..) Besides that, his DJ career took of as well, playing Amsterdam based clubs like Jimmy Woo and Paradiso and now has his own club night called Riot in Studio 80. Willie Wartaal is also known for his television work. He first had his own talk show on BNN, and now is co-presenting Villa Life which is a kids program for the VPRO. Aka The Junkies are musically inspired and influenced by artists like Jimmy Hendriks, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Sid Vicious and Herman brood. With music made on an 808 in combination with a Roland d20, aka The Junkies will be taking over the musical torch from masters like Kraftwerk while cycling through out the musical landscapes. Hypnoticis Pascal Maton, a Belgian producer, composer and remixer that released several New Beat and early Euro House records between the late 80's and the early 90's. He released a few singles (such as "Pump Pump It Up", "Ready Or Not" and under the name of HYPNOTECK "Let's Go Crazy", number 1 during two months in the dance charts and number 7 in the top 50 (sales) in France. In 2003, he created a new recording studio in Paris for the label Penelope Music. He released the single 'Malibuye' for David Soul (former actor in the TV series 'Starsky and Hutch' and Mory Kante. In 2007, he rearranged and mixed the album : A Tribute To Piaf with artists such as Donna Summer, Pat Benatar, Willy De Ville, Leon Russel, Emmylou Harris etc. In 2008 we can hear his latest release "Touch Me Now". Now, he's working on new electro and lounge projects for Presence Prods.
